Pet Loss Support

Grief after losing a pet is real, and there is no set timetable. You can choose a memorial when you are ready, not on the day you say goodbye.

There is no correct way to grieve

Losing a pet can be one of the hardest losses. Grief can be intense and unpredictable, and there is no correct way to move through it. Be gentle with yourself and let practical decisions wait if they feel too heavy.

You do not have to decide now

A memorial can be chosen later. You might keep a photo, a collar or a favourite blanket close while you decide what feels right. There is no deadline, and nothing has to be ordered on the day of loss.

Talking to someone

If you want to talk, your vet practice or a pet loss support service may be able to point you to someone who understands. You do not have to explain yourself perfectly or have a plan before you reach out.

Questions people ask

Do we have to choose an urn straight away?

No. Take the time you need. Ashes can stay in the container they come home in, and an urn or memorial stone can be chosen later.

What should we do with our pet's things?

Keep what helps and change what does not, when you are ready. There is no rule, and different people need different things.
