    What makes a good photo

    • Face towards the camera. A clear front-facing photo is the best starting point.
    • Daylight is best. Natural light shows their colours and markings.
    • Close and sharp. Fill the frame with their head and shoulders, and check you can see their eyes clearly.
    • The original photo. Very small, blurred or heavily filtered photos limit the detail we can work from.
    • Extra angles help. Side views help us understand their shape and markings, but one clear photo is all we need.

    We look at every photo ourselves and ask if another would help, then send a design proof before we make anything.

    My photo won’t open here

    Some phones save photos as HEIC, which this page can’t always read. Take a screenshot of the photo and check that instead, or save a copy as JPG. You can still add the original photo on the bust page.
