Wipe each piece with a damp cloth and allow it to dry fully before returning it to the cage. Check the fittings and edges during normal cage cleans and remove any piece that becomes loose, damaged, rough or heavily chewed.

How it fixes: a headless bolt screws into a threaded metal insert in the piece, goes through the cage and is held on the outside with washers and a wing nut, so it tightens by hand. Fits cage bars up to about 2.5 cm (1 in).
